What This Part Does
The heater element sits in the bottom of the outer drum, under the water line. When a heated wash is selected the control board switches the element on until the temperature sensor reports the right temperature. Over time elements can burn out, go open circuit, or develop a short to earth where limescale and corrosion have attacked the outer sheath.
