What This Part Does

The icebox at the top of an under-counter fridge has a small hinged door. This hook mounts on the icebox and supports that door so it can swing and stay closed. The plastic gets brittle in the cold and can crack when the door is forced or knocked, and once it breaks the door hangs loose, falls off or lets warm air into the icebox.
