What This Part Does

The rocker switch on top of the machine is the main power switch. It connects the mains supply to the motor when switched on and cuts it when switched off. Because it is pressed every time the vacuum is used, often with a foot, the rocker can crack and the internal contacts can wear, leaving the vacuum dead or cutting in and out.
