What This Part Does
The door handle is the pull handle on the front of the washing machine door. Pulling it releases the door catch so the door can swing open once the door lock has released at the end of a cycle. Because it is pulled every time the machine is loaded or emptied, the plastic handle and its paddle take a lot of wear, and pulling on the handle while the door is still locked is a common cause of breakage. A new handle restores a clean, positive pull so the door opens as it should.
