What This Part Does
The TOC (thermal cut-out) is a safety device on the heater circuit. If the air in the dryer reaches 85°C, it opens and cuts power to the heater. It is a one-shot part: once it has tripped it stays open and must be replaced. When it fails or trips, the drum keeps turning but the dryer no longer heats.
