This replacement capacitor stores an electrical charge to facilitate motor startup. This product is exclusively designed for boost start of induction motors and is not compatible with carbon brush motors.

To check if your capacitor is faulty without specialised electrical testing equipment, you can perform a visual inspection. A defective capacitor often exhibits bulging or may even burst open, although sometimes it may show no signs of distortion.

The most accurate method of assessment is to invest in an inexpensive capacitor tester and evaluate the capacitor itself. For instance, if the capacitor is rated at 7uF, the reading should be within plus or minus 5% of the stated uF rating on the capacitor.

If the reading deviates significantly from this range, it indicates wear or imminent failure, signaling that it's time to purchase a replacement.
